It’s not exactly a science: Throw together a bunch of female singer types (all with model-like physiques and bubbly personalities), mix with dumbed-down dance beats, and boom—a girl group is born. It worked for the Spice Girls, it worked for the Pussycat Dolls, and now Jimmy Iovine is hoping it’ll work for the Paradiso Girls. Unlike their Spice and Pussycat predecessors, the Paradiso Girls boast a diverse, U.N.-worthy line-up, with members hailing from the Philippines (Shar), Barbados (Kelly), England (Lauren), France (Aria), and the U.S. (Chelsea, the runner-up on The Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll).

Club bangers with catchy tunes are definitely our guilty pleasure here at Complex, so we’re definitely not mad at the Girls’ debut single, “Patron Tequila,” featuring Lil Jon (they found him?) and Eve. With an upcoming full-length album in the works, the Paradiso Girls visited us to talk (and giggle and giggle and giggle some more) about their old-school crushes and favorite aphrodisiacs…

Oi Oi!!! so Paradiso Girls are finally out on the road! It’s just the beginning but it’s already been so exiting, we just got back from our first club tour and while we was in New York we performed at the new now next awards for logo tv with EVE!!! it was the first time we had eve on the stage with us and can I just say how fabulous she is! A lovely person and us girls feel very lucky to work with her. The performance will be on logo on June the 13th so please make sure you tune in! Would like to say thank you soooooooo much to everyone who is following and supporting us we need you! So Paradiso Girls have finally been let loose on the public and we are loving it… We have just come back from our club promotional tour for ”Patron Tequila” where we got to visit loads of cool places New York being one of them and also Chicago and Washington DC (how you doing Obama) which was a first for me. I had such a good time even though we were working a lot; us girls still had plenty of laughs and giggles on the tour bus, lets just put it this way who knew the bars on the bus ceiling could be so versatile and double up as play monkey bars!!!! My hat goes off to Shar and Lauren who could hang upside down for hours….

How many female singers does it take to assemble an all-girl group with that all-important “it” factor? Throughout the years combinations of either two, three, four or five have all been magic numbers in finding all-girl success in the studio. From En Vogue and TLC back in the day to Destiny’s Child, The Spice Girls and The Pussycat Dolls, the musical power within various female collectives has resulted in huge chart-topping success. The latest female five to make a run for the charts is the L.A. based Paradiso Girls who bring a unique blend of pop, rock, R&B and hip-hop to the music scene as the only group to feature three lead singers, a rapper, and a DJ.

Since today’s music landscape is getting all the more crowded by everyday singers vying for, or winning, various TV talent competitions, it’s becoming increasingly easier to hear the “it” that divides the pack. After spending four minutes with the first single from The Paradiso Girls, “Patron Tequila”, that was “it” and all we needed to know Aria, Chelsea, Kelly, Lauren and Shar of The Paradiso Girls have what it takes to go the all-girl distance.
